Cochin – Thekkady – Kumarakom – Kochi

Day 01: Arrive at Cochin & local

Wedged between the Western Ghats on the East and the Arabian Sea on the West, the narrow strip of land known as Kerala is a destination of a lifetime .Arrival & Check in to hotel. Cover the local sightseeing of Cochin including visit to various islands of Cochin like Mattenchery Island – Mattancherry is primarily a trading city, famous for its thriving Gujarati settlement brought to the city in the 16th and 17th centuries by the spice trade.Fort Kochi (Old Kochi)- Even a casual stroll through Fort Kochi located in the port city of Kochi in Kerala is enough to make you feel transported to another world and time. Since Fort Cochin was under the possession of the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British at different points of time, the region still bear the influence of European architecture. Welingdon Island – Headquarters of the Southern Naval Command of India, The Island is named after Lord Willingdon, a British Viceroy to India etc. You will see Jewish Synagogue – At the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town lies the synagogue of the white Jews near Mattancherry palace. The synagogue is now a fascinating mixture of shops, warehouses and spice auction rooms, Dutch Palace & Museum – The Dutch palace at Mattancherry was actually built by the Portuguese and presented to the Cochin Raja in AD 1555. The main attractions of the palace lie in its wall murals that depict the scenes from the Ramayana. Chinese fishing nets – They are fixed land installations, which are used for a very unique and unusual method of fishing, St. Francis Church – The oldest European church in India, St. Francis Church was built in the early 16th century. Today, it stands as the pride of Fort Cochin etc

Day 02: Cochin – Thekkady (3 Hrs Drive)

Morning check out & depart to Thekkady. Arrival & check in to hotel – Discover the veritable essence of Kerala’s well kept wilderness secrets at Thekkady. The landscape here is dotted with tropical forests, exotic spice plantations, tea gardens and beautiful lakes. Evening visit Spice Gardens – The spice plantations of Thekkady are a huge draw for travelers from all over the world. The most abundantly found spice in Thekkady is pepper, but you will also see a variety of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric and curry leaves on the slanting slopes of the spice plantation & some time for spice shopping. In evening enjoy Kathakalli Show.

Day 03: Thekkady

Today Half day Jeep Safari can be done & then visit to Periyaar wild life sanctuary – The Periyar Tiger Reserve at Thekkady is one of the best tiger reserves in India. The place offers a wide array of avenues to quench your thirst for adventure and for enjoying safaris, tiger trails, plantation tours & Spice Garden. Kalaripayattu – Martial Art Show – can be enjoyed in evening.

Day 04: Thekkady – Kumarakom

Check out & move for the Elephant Ride & then proceed to Kumarakom. Arrival & check in. Alleppey / Kumarakom comprises of a cluster of petite islands scattered across the emerald backwaters of Vembanad. Backwater cruises along these tranquil waters in a houseboat is a must-must have for any tourist visiting Kerala.

Day 05: Kumarakom

After breakfast day at leisure to enjoy the resort. Overnight stay at Kumarokom.

Day 06: Kumarakom – Cochin

Check out & transfer to Cochin Rly. Stn./Airport to board the train/flight for further destination.
